This is someone's game pitch video. What here is copied from some existing game?

Well, he says it himself: inspired by GTA and RE4. (I can't see him achieving any horror atmosphere, though, which worries me.)
Adding the slogan ‘Become a part of the games lore yourself’, i would add some CP2077 philosophy on top.
So it's as usual: Mix ALL existing games to prevent copying a single existing game. Minimize risk, but innovation too.

I wonder why you often ask such questions.

So many scams and fakes on r/metaverse that I'm trying to sort out the real projects from the fake ones. I like virtual worlds, but since they got hooked up to crypto, the scam level has gone through the roof.

I'm not an FPS gamer, so when I see FPS gameplay, I don't know where it came from.

I see. I'm a total FPS player, but stopped looking at multiplayer since 1-2 decades, so not really up to date either.
It looks this is aimed to become some generic 3rd person shooter gameplay. In it's actual shape it is just too generic to see any distinctive mechanics which could remember us on GTA vs. Gears of War, for example.
Given current U engines and their templates, it's not that hard to make such video.
To me it looks like an early prototype, but i see no hint of scam, just some shallow marketing phrases eventually. If i had to choose, i'd naively pick trust over doubt regarding intent. Though, idk who Polygon Studios is, and chance of success is another question.

To detect scam, maybe you could see if the community he mentions actually exists and how they actually contribute. But i guess you did without much luck.

hmm

There is a search engine somewhere that if you upload an image, it will see where else it is on the internet.

Don't think it's done videos yet.
