Talk:Tools:Content
From GDWiki
I think we should try to keep the non-existent links to a minimum. We can create individual pages for these tools as needed, no need to stub them all prematurely. Ryan Clark 20:22, 7 Oct 2004 (EDT)
Let's keep it until category page and this one will be merged. --egore911
Ha, I did not know this wiki automatically did categories. Well... this page is somewhat useless now (although it does look prettier than Category:Tools!) --Marijn
Good idea. Maybe a category would be (also) nice? --egore911
noticing that Tools:Gimp was not linked from anywhere, I added this. should be integrated in the main page somehow
ah, I notice that they are now linked from the TOC. still, a category is useful --Marijn
[edit] Could use better formatting...
I think that this page would be better formatted as several tables rather than several long lists. Right now it's too hard to pick out the key features of each piece of software (is it free? is it available on my system)? Here's an example entry template that would improve this and how it would look:
{| WIDTH="100%" border="1" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" align="center"
|+ '''Category'''
|-
! style="background:#efefef;border-bottom:3px solid grey;" | Tool Name
! style="background:#efefef;border-bottom:3px solid grey;" | Cost/License
! style="background:#efefef;border-bottom:3px solid grey;" | OS Support
! style="background:#efefef;border-bottom:3px solid grey;" | Website
|-
! colspan=4 align=left style="background:#efefef;border-bottom:3px solid grey;" | Description
|-
| style="border-bottom:3px solid grey;" | My Tool
| style="border-bottom:3px solid grey;" | My Cost/License
| style="border-bottom:3px solid grey;" | My OS Support

|-

What do you think?

- Agreed! Feel free to modify, unless anyone else objects. --Ryan Clark 01:18, 8 May 2006 (EDT)
- The table looks beautiful but I hope all the style information doesn't prohibit editing. Boder 23:05, 8 May 2006 (EDT)
- Well, the table doesn't seem to be an issue on Game_Engines --pfeilspitze 23:28, 8 May 2006 (EDT)
[edit] Script Tools
One kind of software that could be potentially useful for more complex games is a script assistant, one that makes it easier to make film scripts, so that the game designer could make a easy to read and clearly separated script to make the job of the rest of the team easier.
