GDWiki is an online collection of articles and resources related to game development and, as a means to that end, an online community of people interested in building a high-quality reference in a spirit of mutual respect. Therefore, there are certain things that GDWiki is not.

[edit] GDWiki is not a Wikipedia mirror

GDWiki is not intended as an in-house collection of everything remotely related to game development. Many informational (and encyclopedic) topics are covered on Wikipedia in detail, and it's better to reference them and link there than to keep local mirrors which inevitably become out of date. GDWiki should complement the material available on Wikipedia by offering things that Wikipedia does not: how-to articles, directories of information relating to a certain topic, and community resources, and it should serve primarily as a means to make game development resources easily accessible.
