GDWiki:Naming conventions

This page documents a proposed GDWiki policy. The policy is not yet in final form and is seeking further input on the talk page. Before editing this page, please make sure that your revision reflects consensus on the way the policy should be developed.

This article describes the guidelines that should be followed when naming GDWiki pages.

[edit] Capitalization

Only the first letter of the first word of an article should be capitalized. Exceptions should be made for proper nouns (that is, names) and other words that are generally capitalized in English.

Acronyms should be completely capitalized unless they are three letters or longer, in which case the first letter should be capitalized, but the following letters should be lowercase.

When a specific API or term is used, that term should be capitalized in the manner that will be most recognizable to users of that term. For example, OpenGL should always be capitalized as 'OpenGL' and never as 'opengl,' 'openGL,' or any other combination.
