GDWiki:Deletion policy
From GDWiki
| | This page documents a proposed GDWiki policy. The policy is not yet in final form and is seeking further input on the talk page. Before editing this page, please make sure that your revision reflects consensus on the way the policy should be developed. |
The GDWiki deletion policy describes how pages which do not meet the relevant content criteria are identified and removed from GDWiki.

[edit] Alternatives to deletion
[edit] Editing
If the page can be improved, this should be solved through regular editing, rather than deletion. A variety of tags can be added to articles to note the problem. These are listed here. Some of the more common ones include:
- {{stub}} for a short article
- {{merge}} for a small article that could be merged into a larger one.
- {{rewrite}} for an article that needs to be rewritten to comply with quality standards.
- {{cleanup}} for a rough article that needs to be tightened up.
[edit] Merging
Articles that are short and unlikely to be expanded could be merged into a larger article or list.
[edit] Reasons for deletion
Reasons for deletion include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Advertising or other spam without relevant content
- Content forks
- Copyright infringement
- Hoax articles
- Images that are unused, obsolete, or violate fair-use policy
- Inappropriate user pages
- Overcategorization
- Patent nonsense or gibberish
- Redundant templates
- Vandalism that is not correctable
- Any other usage of article, template, project, or user namespace that is contrary to the established separate policy for that namespace.
[edit] Deletion Process (Preliminary)
The deletion process begins with a {{prod}}
If you want to nominate an article for deletion, insert the {{prod|reason}} template at the top of the page.
After an article has been proded, a discussion is held on the merits of the article. If the consensus reached by the staff is to delete the article, the {{delete}} template is applied. After five days of the application of the delete template, if no new significant changes or new reasons for keeping the articles have appeared, the article should be deleted.
