When we see something brand new coming out of the production line, we perceive that thing in a shroud of perfection which is something that really doesn`t help us understand what we`re looking at. To get to understand the brand new thing we need see it being raped (f-d would be the word I would use but that`s not a word educated should use)/striped from its perfection shroud.
Like if we see a commercial with a new car moving fast on a road with a beautiful background behind that is not going to help us understand it. We need to see the car turned to rubble in a crash test to 'see' into the car and perceive it correctly.
Also seeing things arranged in good order doesn`t help us get an understanding about them. Again there is a shroud of perfection that stops us seeing through. Like if I see some concrete slabs used to support the rail lines arranged nicely in a stack that will not be revealing at all to us. If we notice a slab or two breaking the order/placed in an ackward position that will let us pass past the perfection shroud.
Another thing I want to talk about is about how our brain manages multiple objects. We have a limited capacity to perceive a large number of objects. The more complex the objects are the smaller the number of those objects our brain can accommodate at one time. When we`re seeing complex physical objects (like cars on a street) our brain uses LOD optimization, this way we can perceive a somewhat high number of such objects. However when we talk about objects that are 'ideatic' in nature we can either perceive a large number of simple objects or a small number of complex objects. When I say complex I mean objects with parts that have interaction between them. Like we can comprehend/interact with a large number of RTS units because those units are simple. In a FPS we can perceive a smaller number of units/characters because those characters are more complex. If you place a very large number of characters in a FPS your brain can`t keep track of them.
