Weekly Updates #79 - Tight Security

Hello there! This is your Weekly Update post coming in a little late this week due to unexpected events. Last week was quite similar to the week before. The main goal here was to clean up the code and test the game out to get ready for the first monthly build.

I have to say that we are 99% done with the testing and whatnot. So for my patrons expect the build to come out in the following days...

Despite this, I was also able to add two new things, so let's get started!

New Effects

First off, there are now smoke particles emitting when an entity walks or, in case of hamburgers, when they land.

These are very subtle but still adds a bit of depth.

New Doors

Lastly, there are now new types of doors: key card doors! These types of doors are locked using a key card system.

To unlock them, you simply need to grab the key card of the same colour as the door and, just like any typical doors, walk through it.

You'll find these doors randomly scattered around the map. Be sure to look all around and find the right key card for the right door, otherwise, you won't go very far.

Minor Updates

  • Many small refactorings, code quality updates and optimizations.
  • There are a bunch of bugfixes too!

Next Week

So, as I previously said, my goal is to release the monthly build as fast as possible. Once it's done, it's back to completing the jungle challenges for me and maybe adding another type of normal room for good measure.

After all of this is done, it's gonna be demo time. I'm planning on releasing a demo in either July or August. If everything goes to plan that is.
