Interesting, I was thinking about getting nearly the same setup (i5 + 5850) but have been waiting to see what nvidia does. How much did that cost in total if you don't mind me asking?

The whole system including a 24" monitor costed 1500$ CAD.

Not too shabby at all. I recently upgraded my Pentium 4 to a Core i7 920, but I am looking for a better video card. I've currently got my eye on a 5770, as I don't think I can quite justify the extra $100 to get the 5850.

You'll have to keep us up to date on how well it works.
